Blackheath Choir  members may be interested in this lockdown project arranged by Dulwich Choral Society (DCS)

“DCS has commissioned new Music Director William Vann to produce a series of 10 short videos, each about 15 minutes long, on the Rachmaninov All-Night Vigil (Vespers), an outstandingly beautiful a capella work. These will focus on 10 of the 15 sections of the work, and will be released at weekly intervals, along with sheet music that is available online. The first and second videos are already available.

Part of the idea is for DCS to organise a “Come & Sing” event in the Dulwich area once we all get back to a more normal life and would love it if other local singers were able to be involved.. As we don't know when that will be, we are making the videos available immediately to anyone who is interested, and they are most welcome to view them and use them as a rehearsal tool.

DCS have opened a guest section in the members section of their Website (, where the password is Vespers2020. This will give participants access to the podcasts and to download free to use sheet music.

The videos are being funded by DCS from their subscriptions,  and so there is no official fee for taking part. The important thing is to use this opportunity to reach out to local choirs and the wider community and give people an opportunity to participate if they wish. However, if guest singers wish to make a contribution it will be gratefully received Please see DCS website for details.
